Heating & Boilers
Boiler repair Cape Cod winters demand — repair, replacement, and maintenance that keeps the heat on through every season.

Most Cape Cod homes heat with hot-water boilers and baseboard radiators — systems that are reliable for decades when maintained and miserable when they’re not. We repair and service every brand: Buderus, Weil-McLain, Burnham, Peerless, Navien, and the rest. No-heat calls get priority dispatch year-round, because a January night without heat isn’t an inconvenience here, it’s burst pipes waiting to happen. Beyond repairs, we install high-efficiency replacement boilers that cut fuel usage 15-30%, service oil-to-gas conversions, and winterize seasonal homes properly — drained lines, antifreeze where appropriate, and a documented checklist so you know the house is safe until spring.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should a boiler be serviced?
Once a year, ideally in early fall before the heating season. An annual tune-up keeps efficiency up, catches failing parts before they strand you in January, and is required by most manufacturers to keep the warranty valid.
My boiler is making a banging noise. Is that serious?
Banging (called kettling) usually means scale buildup is making water boil where it shouldn’t, or air is trapped in the system. It won’t fix itself and it accelerates wear. It’s a same-week service call, not an emergency — unless you’ve also lost heat.
Should I convert from oil to gas heat?
If natural gas is available on your street, conversion typically pays for itself in 5-8 years through lower fuel costs, and gas boilers need less maintenance. We handle the full conversion including the gas piping, boiler swap, and decommissioning the oil tank.
What does winterizing a Cape Cod summer home involve?
We shut down and drain the water system, add non-toxic antifreeze to traps and fixtures, set the heat to a safe minimum (or drain the heating system completely), and document everything. In spring, we reverse it and pressure-test before you arrive.
How long does a boiler last?
Cast-iron boilers commonly run 20-30 years on Cape Cod with annual service. High-efficiency condensing boilers run 15-20. If yours is past 20 years, planning the replacement on your schedule beats doing it as an emergency in February.
